Although they may have a great deal of experience, many working adults' careers are hindered because their educational qualifications are not up-to-date. Fortunately, several brick-and-mortar and online colleges have recently launched new certificate programs that can help graduates put their careers on the fast track.
Take for instance, a Missouri-based school recently announced that it has created six new certificate programs, which were designed with adult learners in mind, the Carthage Press reports.
Enrollees can choose to pursue certifications in adult automotive, adult construction, computer network administration, machining or nursing assistance.
While certificate programs do not award degrees, individuals who complete these programs may gain a new skill set that could boost their career. These courses of study could provide working adults with the qualifications they will need to gain a promotion or earn a higher salary.
These programs may also benefit high school graduates who are not ready to begin pursuing a full-time degree, but wish to gain marketable skills that can supplement their diploma.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, students who have earned some college credits earn an average of $699 per week.
In today's difficult job market, many working adults are unable to take the time to enroll in a campus-based or online degree program in order to update their qualifications.
Fortunately, there are many certificate courses of study that can help working students say abreast of emerging trends in their industries without taking time off work.
For example, one online school recently announced the launch of 15 new certificate programs that are intended to benefit professionals who are already working in or wish to enter two of the country's fastest-growing industries - information technology (IT) and business.
Individuals who choose to pursue an IT-related certification may examine topics such as information security, computer forensics, Oracle database administration, Cisco networks, Microsoft operating systems, Linux system administration or internet web design.
Individuals who earn certificates in this field may see improved career prospects after they have completed their studies, as nearly 50,000 jobs for individuals with these skill sets are expected to be created within the next eight years.
Business certificate candidates may have the option to study human resources, national security administration, accounting, project management as well as entrepreneurship for growth and new ventures.
